Not knowing much about 4x though, I'd have no idea if this game is balanced or not. Which can be off putting to new/incoming players. Sometimes the hardcore players want some kind of bleeding knuckle fight for the sake of difficulty. Feedback is good but some should be taken with a grain of salt. Just waiting to see what the devs do with balancing patches etc. I'm going through AoW3 right now to familiarize myself with the genre but I plan on playing this once I get the hang of it. Maybe scenario's would be cool, IDK, I haven't tried them yet in other games. I'm new to 4x games but I often enjoy playing through RTS/other strategy campaigns rather than a random map. The population of events might be random but the battle arena's are hand crafted for where they pop up. I'm not a game engineer but I imagine that factors into why there's no random map option. IIRC I remember hearing during a dev insight video that the scenes in which you're battling the encounters were all hand crafted, so when you're fighting on/in XYZ then the battle map reflects XYZ's location. That said I wouldn't mind them adding a 2nd map introducing a different continent like LITCH mentioned. No playthrough will be the exact same, safe for maybe the first few turns, depending on where you go and how you approach the game. You literally have the freedom of lifting your tower and settling anywhere you want on a pretty big map which does have some random elements of camp placements etc. Total War Warhammer has one huge map and one smaller one for shorter playthroughs which also never changes and has huge replay value just because of different starting locations. Thats a very annoying process in my opinion. Same with Battle Brothers where you restart a dozen times just to get a half playable seed. Restart, look at map, restart, look at map, restart look at map. Civilisation has random seeds and most of those random seeds are utter garbage with weird formations of terrain or land masses. I very much prefer a well built and designed map to a random map generator that can have huge imbalances depending on the seed. Tbh random map generators in many games are hugely overrated.
